{Fevereiro 25, 2009}   Puppymills

Have you ever heard of them? I hadn’t, until today. As I was having a snack, I turned on the TV and began watching the Oprah Show. The theme couldn’t have been more nauseating. Puppymills. Apparently, these are spread all over the USA, and if you have bought a dog in an American petstore, there’s a good chance it came from one of this places.

Basically, Puppymills are places where animal breeders (the you-should-have-never-been-born type) put dog in cages to breed puppies all their lives … yes … that means around 10 years in a cage. The guest on the Oprah Show I just saw had gone to some of these Pullymills in order to save a few dogs. Well, they don’t even know how to walk after spending years in such a tight space.

So, if you live in the USA and want to have a dog, do NOT go to a pet store. Go to an animal shelter, there you can find dogs of any age, size and breed.

This is an example of what they do to these animals.
